First Contact Physio

Central Health delivers First Contact Physiotherapy services to individual GP Surgeries, PCNs, GP Federations and CCGs, on a local, regional and national basis. We offer complete service delivery in this specialist area, including implementation, recruitment of FCPs, FCP Roadmap education and on-going management, and we’re delighted to be working closely with our partners in Primary Care to broaden patient access to MSK Physiotherapy.

FCP Service Delivery in Primary Care Settings

The role of a First Contact Physiotherapist is to work as part of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team in a Primary Care setting, and be available to assess, diagnose and recommend appropriate treatment or referral for musculoskeletal (MSK) problems, without a patient being required to see a GP in the first instance.

A FCP therefore optimises patient access to care and ultimately progresses the management of MSK conditions by being able to refer patients to an appropriate treatment pathway, such as further investigations or a course of physiotherapy, whilst also offering self-management advice and rehabilitation exercise programmes.

Within Primary Care settings, FCPs also reduce GP appointments, lessen referrals and decrease the number of unnecessary investigations and prescriptions.

At Central Health, we specialise in the delivery and management of First Contact Physiotherapy services, and we’re working with PCN’s across the UK to deliver this vital patient care pathway.

We’re seeing huge success in this area, with both patient outcomes and Primary Care efficiency greatly benefiting.

Central Health is totally committed to further developing the effectiveness of First Contact Physiotherapy, and we’re heavily invested in FCP Roadmap Education. We employ our own professional Supervisors to ensure each of our FCPs progress along the correct training pathway and are included in the FCP Directory for verified FCPs.
