As a proud sponsor of this year’s Derby Ram Trail, we’re excited to reveal the name of the Central Health Ram!
The Central Health sponsored ram at the Derby Ram Trail will go by the name of…Rambo!
Rambo is currently being brought to life by our fabulous artist, Joy Pirkle in a studio near Ipswich.
We hear it’s pretty cold in that studio right now, but Rambo is built of tough stuff and he’s already looking super-hot!
In true Rambo style, Joy’s full design will be kept top secret until just before the Derby Ram Trail begins, so you might say Rambo is currently in ram-ouflage and keeping out of sight!
We are able to give you little teasers of what Rambo will look like as his design takes shape though, so please keep an eye on our social media channels, including Rambo’s very own Twitter feed here
SNEAK PREVIEW….TOP SECRET!
Rambo will take to the streets of the city and join his fellow rams at the Derby Ram Trail during the summer of 2021.
As a spectacular free art sculpture event, from 27 May to 22 August 2021 a flock of fabulously colourful and unique rams will take you on a trail around the beautiful city of Derby.
The ram sculpture is based on the mythical Derby Ram from the 18th Century song, which according to legend was ten yards high with enormous horns and a huge flowing fleece. The story tells how people from all over came to see the huge Derby Ram, and we are excited that people will once again flock to Derby.
The Derby Ram Trail is brought to you by Derby Museums, together with Wild in Art and Presenting Partner, Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID). Wild in Art is a leading producer of creative events that transform places into free, family-friendly outdoor art galleries.
The Derby Ram Trail is raising money for Derby Museums, helping to secure the future of free museums for everyone to enjoy. Every pound raised will be doubled by a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
