Outstanding Performance Celebrated at Sports Awards

The 2016 Derby Telegraph Sports Awards took place in front of a star-studded audience on Thursday 10th November, with Central Health involved as official sponsors.

Local sports stars, award nominees and event sponsors filled the Roundhouse in Derby for the glittering ceremony, which was hosted by well known TV presenters Gary Newbon and Emma Jesson.

The evening saw 13 awards presented across both individual and team sport categories , with big names like Adam Peaty winning Sportsman of the Year and ‘Rocket’ Ron Haslam receiving a Lifetime Achievement award, at an event which celebrated outstanding sporting performance.

Central Health was the official sponsor of the Junior Sportsperson of the Year, which saw young golfers Archie Qualtrough and Charlie Ward, athlete Ella Rush and cyclist George Cooper all nominated for the award, in recognition of the tremendous success they had achieved in their respective sports over the past 12 months.

After what we know had been a extremely difficult decision to make by the judging panel, Ella Rush was announced as the winner on the evening, and received her award from Kevin Huffington, Clinical Director at Central Health, Olympic Trap Shooter, Caroline Povey and professional cricketer, Shiv Thakor (all pictured below).ellarushPresenting the award, Kevin Huffington emphasised how proud Central Health was to be supporting the next generation of local sports stars, commented on how successful the awards had been, and of course congratulated everyone involved.
