Leading Osteopath, Matt Penman has joined Central Osteopaths having recently moved to Derbyshire from London.
Matt’s first experience of Osteopathy was as a patient! After experiencing back pain for a long period, he was advised by a friend to see his local Osteopath and was so impressed by the approach and results he decided to train to become an Osteopath himself!
Since graduating with a Masters Degree in Osteopathy at Oxford Brookes University, after four years of intensive study, Matt has worked in private clinics in Oxford, London and St Lucia.
Throughout his career, Matt has successfully treated a wide variety of patients, including manual and office workers, and amateur and professional sports athletes.
Matt has helped people with chronic, acute and recurrent pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, Osteoarthritis, ‘cervicogenic’ headaches, and even with general sports performance and mobility concerns.
Matt takes an evidence-based, pragmatic approach to treatment and rehabilitation using a mixture of ‘hands-on’ work, exercise and movement training and lifestyle/ergonomic/postural advice.
He particularly enjoys working with people for whom previous approaches have not helped or are finding their complaints recur despite following advice.
When Matt is not working, he likes to stay active with a mix of calisthenics, yoga, boxing, and hiking. He loves to read, and is happiest either surrounded by friends or half way up a mountain!
