Central Occupational Health to Sponsor Derby 10K Business Team Challenge

Central Occupational Health has been announced as headline sponsors of the Business Team Challenge at next year’s Central Health Derby 10K

Part of Derby-based Central Health Network, Central Occupational Health provide health and wellbeing services to businesses of all sizes across the UK.

With parent company Central Health sponsoring the 2017 Derby 10K for the second consecutive year, Central Occupational Health will be sponsors of the Business Team Challenge at Derby’s most popular running event for the very first time.

Organised by Sporting Futures, the Central Occupational Health Business Team Challenge will see organisations enter teams of between 4 and 10 members who will all complete the 10K distance, with the times from the top 4 runners being combined to give an overall team race time.

Entries for 2017 Central Occupational Health Business Team Challenge are now open.

The event will take place on Sunday 9th April 2017, starting at the city’s Pride Park Stadium. Participants will then wind their way past some of Derby’s best known landmarks and cityscapes, before crossing the finish line back at the Stadium.  This will be the 17th year of the race which has seen entries grow year on year.

This year’s race saw 4,800 runners take part in the 2016 Central Health Derby 10k. For 2017’s race, organiser Sporting Futures is hoping for up to 6,000 participants, including runners from at least 60 local or national businesses.

Sporting Futures’ Events Manager Emma Pilgrim said:

“The Central Occupational Health Business Team Challenge is a great opportunity for colleagues to get active together. With initiatives such as the Workplace Challenge and Derbyshire Sport’s ‘Towards an Active Derbyshire’ becoming ever more important, our event provides an ideal platform for businesses to get on board. We will be releasing a Couch to 10k programme after Christmas which we hope will encourage more businesses to get involved.”

Central Occupational Health’s sponsorship will provide Business Team Challenge entrants with an exclusive race ready event, discounted treatments and access to Pride Park’s Pedigree Suite on race day.

Emma Pilgrim added:

“We are delighted to welcome Central Occupational Health as headline sponsors for the Business Team Challenge and we are looking forward to their support.  They will be on hand to offer advice to runners in the build up to the race through race ready clinics and discounts on appointments at Central Physio, Central FootClinic and Central Osteopaths.”

Central Health’s Clinical Director, Kevin Huffington, said:

“With 2017 going to be the second consecutive year Central Health has sponsored the Derby 10K, we’re delighted to be developing our relationship with Sporting Futures and bringing another division of the company, Central Occupational Health to the race next year as sponsors of the popular Business Team Challenge.

“The team at Central Occupational Health work closely with businesses in and around Derby to improve and maintain good health and wellbeing in the workplace, so sponsoring the Business Team Challenge in addition to the main individuals race is a natural extension of our support of the Derby 10K.

“As well as our physio, podiatry and osteopathy departments being here to help as many individuals get to the start line of the Central Health Derby 10K in April, I know the team at Central Occupational Health are really looking forward to encouraging as many local companies as possible to enter the Business Team Challenge, and to seeing lots of great achievements and money raised for charity on the day.”

Entries are priced at £27 per team member and are now open on the Sporting Futures website https://www.sporting-futures.org.uk/register
