Back pain is a very common problem that will affect most people at some point in their lives. It can be caused by a range of factors, including your age, your job or your lifestyle. Our physiotherapists can provide back pain treatment and an accurate diagnosis for all kinds of problems. One of the most common back complaints is lower back pain – and this can often include a great deal of discomfort, pain and stiffness.

What Is Back Pain?

‘Specific’ or ‘mechanical back pain’ is caused by muscle, joint or ligament problems. The pain can be caused by a problem with one of these structures, or a combination. Pain and stiffness is usually felt in the lower back, making sitting, walking or trying to sleep very difficult.

What Causes General & Lower Back Pain?

Back pain is very common and has many causes. These include getting older, your lifestyle or your job. For example, lower back pain is often caused by lifting or repetitive work. Other causes can include sedentary or static work activities, such as a desk job or a driving job. Back pain can also be caused by sports injuries or poor posture in day-to-day life.
