Have you joined the Active Lunch Challenge yet?

The Active Lunch Challenge is underway – but it’s not too late to join so grab your colleagues and start today!

We all know those cold and dark winter nights can play havoc with our good intentions and new year fitness resolutions, and so the Active Lunch Challenge is all about encouraging people to complete ‘bite size’ chunks of exercise of just 10 minutes in and around their working day.

Bite size activities can be anything that gets your heart rate elevated, makes you feel a little bit warmer and gets your blood pumping! From a brisk walk in a midday mile, to a tussle over table tennis, get logging your activity!

And if you are already signed up to the challenge and are feeling motivated, why not offer some moral support to a colleague, join them for a brisk lunchtime walk and encourage them to sign up too.

“This is about encouraging people to make the most of their time at work especially during the lightest and brightest part of the day over lunch,” said Rachael Dyer, Sport Development Officer for Derbyshire Sport, who run the challenge locally.

The Active Lunch Challenge is the latest concept by the Derbyshire Workplace Challenge, and participants can log their progress online. A number of spot prizes are also on offer including a pair of New Balance 790 running trainers, two free seven-day gym passes and a retail voucher for £25 off when you spend £50 – all from DW Sports & Fitness.

Prizes also include a £25 Central Health voucher, which can be used for any treatment at Central Physio, Central FootClinic or Central Osteopaths, and a FitBit activity tracker.
