Central Health is to once again sponsor the Derby 10K, which is Derby City’s biggest mass participation event.

Organised by Sporting Futures, next year’s Central Health Derby 10K will take place on Sunday 9th April 2017, starting out from the city’s iconic iPro football stadium on Pride Park, Derby. Participants will then wind their way past some of the city’s best known landmarks and cityscapes, before crossing the finish line back at the Stadium.  This will be the 17th year of the race which has seen entries grow year on year.  To allow a safe finish for all runners, this year’s event will finish at the front of the stadium rather than inside the pitch.

Last year over 4,800 runners took part in the 2016 Central Health Derby 10k where a course record was set by Ben Connor, a member of Derby Athletic Club. This year, organiser Sporting Futures is hoping for up to 6,000 participants to go the distance and sign up for the race.

Sporting Futures Events Manager Emma Pilgrim said

“The Central Health Derby 10k is a fantastic race that takes in some of the city’s most recognised landmarks. It’s a great event for participants and spectators alike, as the sight of so many runners winding through the city is truly inspiring. The change to this year’s finish line allows us to grow the event even further and will mean there will be a fantastic buzz around the race village which is held in the car park.”

“The Central Health Derby 10k is a key event in our calendar, not only because it has been running for many years, but also because it is a crucial fundraiser for our charity, Sporting Futures. Entries have opened earlier than previous years and we’re offering an early bird 10% discount to the first 500 runners that sign up.”

The 2017 Derby 10k will once again be sponsored by Central Health and the 3k Fun Run is sponsored by Firefly Photography, and Emma Pilgrim added:

“We are delighted to welcome back Central Health as headline sponsors for the Derby 10k and we are looking forward to their support.  They will be on hand to offer advice to runners in the build up to the race through race ready clinics and discounts on appointments.  We are also thrilled to welcome back Firefly Photography as sponsors of our 3k family Fun Run. Their continued support is much appreciated and we look forward to growing the fun run and offering some fantastic incentives for runners.”

Central Health’s Clinical Director, Kevin Huffington, said:

“Following the success of 2016’s race we are looking forward to carrying on our relationship with the biggest race that will take place in the city next year.”

“Whilst providing healthcare services such as physiotherapy and podiatry, and looking after many runners from Derby, this sponsorship is a perfect fit for Central Health as this year’s event proved. We didn’t hesitate to re-sign and sponsor the 2017 race.”

“Being involved with the Sporting Futures events further strengthens our commitment to supporting major running events in the local area, and we can’t wait to play our part in making the event a huge success.”

As well as the 10k and 3k races, the event will once again feature the Central Occupational Health Business Team Challenge, inviting companies, teams and colleagues to sign up and compete against each other for prizes.
